ECDD Recommendation

We have been waiting for an announcement by the World Health Organizations Expert Committee on Drug Dependence since their meeting which took place on October 11th through October 15th 2021.

After digging through the WHO’s website, I was able to find a document, titled “Annex I. 44th WHO ECDD Summary assessments, findings and recommendations 11-15 October 2021”

I am including a link to the original document on the WHO website, as well as the following copy available from our website.

The relevant information to kratom starts on page 7, with the conclusion and recommendation on page 9.

In short:

The Committee concluded that there is insufficient evidence to recommend a critical review of kratom.
With respect to mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine, the Committee, except for one member, also
concluded that there is insufficient evidence to recommend a critical review at this time.

Recommendation: The Committee recommended that kratom, mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine be
kept under surveillance by the WHO Secretariat.
