UPDATE June 9th: The Senate health committee announced that it is delaying its FDA user fee reauthorization markup by a week, pushing the meeting to June 14 as language reportedly continues to be worked out. So please continue to call, and ask others to call and email!

The Senate HELP Committee is listening to our voices and there’s reported internal “chaos” surrounding the proposal, which is coming from an outcry by consumers about giving the FDA more power over dietary and herbal supplements.
We have to increase the number of calls and emails to keep the pressure on. Click here for email form and phone numbers.
The message: “Don’t let the FDA ban dietary and herbal supplements — make this bill be required to have a hearing and listen to testimony.”
Check out the AKA’s recent webinar on mandatory product listing for FAQs on how this could play out and fully impact on kratom.

Background from APHA:  “The U.S. Senate is considering two separate bills that would create a new requirement for mandatory product listing (MPL) for all dietary supplements marketed in the United States. One of these is found in section 811 of S. 4348, the Food and Drug Administration Safety and Landmark Advancements Act of 2022 (FDASLA), which will be the focus of a markup in the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee this coming week on June 8, 2022. The other is standalone legislation recently introduced by Senator Durbin (D-IL) and Senator Braun (R-IN), S. 4090. “
